Full-time Data Analyst


Required Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Accounting or Business Related Field.
At least two (2) years of demonstrated work experience using data management skills.
Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as attention to detail and time management skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications
Ability to interact with the public and FCPS staff with significant diplomacy, poise, a positive attitude and spirit of cooperation.
Proficient skills in data analysis – ability to understand and simplify large data sets
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely in both oral and written form.
Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to handle highly confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in PeopleSoft Human Resource or Financial applications.
Work experience in a public education or government setting.
Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.

Essential Functions:

Under the direction of the Lead Systems Administrator this position focuses on analysis and problem solving related to data, types of data, and relationships among data elements, such as personnel data, financial data and operational data. Reporting directly to the Lead Systems Administrator, the Data Analyst performs the following duties:

Assists in analysis of personnel and financial data as it relates to the FCPS negotiation process
Responds to request for data including survey requests, report requests and Freedom of Information Requests
Researches and resolves problems and issues associated with data within the PeopleSoft Financial System, PeopleSoft Human Resource, MyBudgetFile system and other financial and human resource systems
Design and create data reports and present data to key management personnel for forecasting and decision making purposes
Participates in new issue intake, gap assessments and policy reviews.
Identify and recommend new ways or streamlined methods to improve various processes within the Fiscal Services and Human Resource Divisions
Map and trace data from system to system to solve a given business or system problem
Mine business data to identify patterns and correlations among the various sets of data
Communicate and present findings and analysis to various stakeholders
Prioritizes workload.
Required to keep current on data management tools such as excel and query
Handles highly confidential information.
Answers inquiries from employees, administrators, outside agencies, vendors and others.
Create training material and trains employees on new procedures and protocols
Provide other general computer and non-related support as needed
Serves on implementation teams and special committees as needed.
Attends both internal and outside training sessions to keep current in new technologies, policies and procedures.
Able to make decisions that fall within the limits of existing processes and procedures.
Regular and predictable attendance.

Other Functions:
Works under limited supervision and is expected to possess the necessary understanding and subject matter expertise required to satisfy the primary accountabilities of the position.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead System Administrator.
